About
“Arlethia, the Model of Gospel Music, has a rich, operatic voice that combines Jazz and R&B overtones and has been described as ‘…powerful enough to hold a crowd’”- The NY Daily News
Arlethia was named the McDonald’s Gospel Fest Soloist of the Year at the Westbury Music Fair. Arlethia’s love for singing gospel has drawn the attention of national and international media and she has been a guest singer on the influential Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) Praise the Lord show, and the Bobby Jones Gospel Retreat at the MGM & Venetian Hotels in Las Vegas, and the James Cleveland Gospel Workshop of America.
In her career, Arlethia has performed at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall and Stamford Performing Arts Center, and has been featured on New York’s News1 and Rev. Al Sharpton’s Morning Show.
The print media is also in love with Arlethia’s powerful performances, including the New York Times, the Amsterdam News and other journals. Her CD, God is Good, was chosen the CD of the Month by the Love Express Newspaper. In performance, Arlethia has roused and inspired audiences the world over, and it was no surprise that she was chosen to perform “Every Grain of Sand” on the legendary Bob Dylan’s gospel DVD Gotta Serve Somebody, performing with such legendary gospel artists such as Shirley Caesar, Dottie Peoples, Helen Baylor, Sounds of Blackness, Mighty Clouds of Joy, and many other great gospel artists. It was her stirring performance of “Somebody Oughta Testify” with the Mt. Carmel Gospel Choir that sings out the credits in the PBS documentary Legacy: Being Black in America which featured Marian Wright Edelman, Condeleezza Rice, Wynton Marsalis, Ice Cube, Andrew Young, and many other members of the Black community.
